New Animated Transformers Film: Origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron

New Animated Transformers Film Ready for Launch

Paramount Pictures breathes life back into animated Transformer series after nearly forty years

After nearly four decades since the emotional outpouring triggered by Optimus Prime’s sacrifice in Transformers: The Animated Movie, Paramount Pictures is ready to reintroduce the franchise to a new generation with a fresh animated film. In an exciting twist, Paramount marked the return of the first animated feature in decades by unveiling the movie’s trailer in, of all places, outer space.

Origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron take center stage in new Transformers movie

The forthcoming film, titled Transformers One, explores the initial narrative of Optimus Prime and Megatron, originally known as Orion Pax and D-16. The plot escorts viewers back to the time when these characters were simply comrades in the labor force, long before their bitter rivalry and leadership roles in the infamous Cybertron war. A daring escapade into the outside world by Orion Pax and a hesitant D-16 unfolds the story, as they discover things aren’t as they appear and encounter an ancient robotic entity that bestows them with transformation powers.

Performances by well-known actors such as Chris Hemsworth, portraying Optimus Prime, and Brian Tyree Henry, playing Megatron, help to build up anticipation for the film. Adding to the unique nature of the film’s promotion, Hemsworth and Henry introduced the trailer, which debuted, courtesy of a weather balloon, in space.

The cast is strengthened by Scarlett Johansson as Elita-1, and Keegan-Michael Key as B-127, supporting characters who accompany Orion and D-16 on their thrilling journey.

The not-to-miss trailer breaks ground as the first to premiere exclusively to perhaps a few unsuspecting extra-terrestrial spectators. The DPH Hot Take

At DPH, we believe that Paramount Pictures’ innovative marketing approach for Transformers One certainly adds an outer-space layer of excitement around the film. It’s more than a mere resuscitation of an old franchise; it’s a nod to the power of nostalgia while introducing beloved characters to a new audience in a novel way. And considering the space-based premiere, the term ‘movie launch’ has never been more appropriate.
