Celebrated Hip-Hop journalist and media executive, Elliott Wilson, has once again claimed a leading role in the Hip-Hop medial realm. He has recently been appointed as the Editorial Director of HipHopDX, UPROXX, and Dime magazine.
UPROXX Studios’ Formation and Acquisitions
UPROXX founder and CEO Jarret Myer, along with Rich Antoniello, founder and former CEO of Complex Networks, and celebrated Black Eyed Peas musician will.i.am, announced the formation of a new company named “UPROXX Studios” on Wednesday (April 24). The formation followed a series of acquisitions, including HipHopDX, UPROXX and Dime magazine, amongst other entities from the Warner Music Group.

Antoniello and will.i.am will respectively fill the positions of Partner and Executive Chairman and Partner/Investor within the new company. Commenting on the acquisition, Maria Weaver, the President of Warner Music Group, expressed positivity. She particularly lauded the return of UPROXX to an orchestrating team spearheaded by the original founder, Jarret Myer.

Wilson, a native of Queens, NY, has been recognized by Billboard as the newly-minted editorial director of Hip-Hop journalism for UPROXX Studios. Wilson boasts a commendable résumé featuring positions at The Source magazine as Music Editor and later as Editor In Chief of XXL magazine. After leaving XXL in 2008, he created Rap Radar along with Paul Rosenberg, Eminem’s manager.
