Blige, Dionne Warwick, and Kool & The Gang were also inducted.

Instagram Announcement and Previous Snubs
Jarobi White relayed the news to his followers on Instagram, expressing his joy and gratitude. A Tribe Called Quest becomes the sixth hip-hop group to be inducted following Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Run-DMC, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, and N.W.A. This recognition comes after the group was overlooked in the 2022 and 2023 nominations.
Notable figures missing from the 2024 inductee list include Eric B. & Rakim, Mariah Carey, and Sade. This year’s list also acknowledges rock legends such as Cher, Ozzy Osbourne, Peter Frampton, and Jimmy Buffett, as well as Big Mama Thornton. Two key figures behind the success of Motown Records, executive Suzanne De Passe, and songwriter/producer Norman Whitfield, were also honored.
The inductees’ inauguration will be officially recognized at a ceremony on October 19th at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse next to the museum in Cleveland, Ohio. The ceremony will be broadcast live on ABC and available for streaming on Hulu the following day.
