Suspect, the story of a Jailed Talent

Suspect, also known as Joshua Abaraham, is a UK rapper from Tottenham, London. He has gained a significant following for his unique style, which blends grime and drill influences. However, his career has not been without controversy, as he has been arrested multiple times for various offenses.

One of Suspect’s biggest accomplishments came in 2018, when he released his debut mixtape, “Still Loading.” The mixtape was well-received by both fans and critics, with many praising Suspect’s authenticity and raw talent. It featured collaborations with a number of other UK rappers, including Blade Brown and Youngs Teflon, and cemented Suspect’s place in the UK rap scene.

However, Suspect’s career has been overshadowed by his legal troubles. In 2014, he was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm, after a gun was found in his car during a routine traffic stop. He was sentenced to 30 months in prison. Then, in 2017, he was arrested again, this time for drug possession. He was released on bail, but was later arrested again and charged with intent to supply drugs. He was eventually sentenced to 10 months in prison for the offense.

UK drill rappers Suspect and Swavey have been charged with murder after being arrested in Nairobi, Kenya on January 26.

21-year-old Tariq Monteiro (Suspect) and 23-year-old Siyad Mohamud (Swavey) are accused of killing 16-year-old Alex Smith, a former soccer player for Premier League side Southampton, who was stabbed to death in Camden, North London on August 12, 2019.

The pair were brought back to the UK on Sunday (January 30) and appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday (January 31). They’re set to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday (February 2).

Before appearing in court, Suspect’s management team put out a statement on Saturday (January 29) claiming he was innocent.

“Due to unseen circumstances, unfortunately Suspect has been arrested,” they said. “Just before he was arrested he spoke to the team about how appreciative he is of the supporters and of how much love he has been shown these last two years. He was really keen to give fans what they want from him which is the album (Suspicious Activity) which will be available on all streaming platforms on the 6th of February.”

They added, “As we all know, Suspect is innocent and will be back in due time, but in the meantime we need the fans to push the album.
