The sad story of the Harlem Spartans

The Harlem Spartans are a UK drill rap group based in Kennington, South London. The group was formed in 2015 and consists of several members, including Blanco, MizOrMac, Bis, TG Millian, Zico, and others. The group is known for their gritty and realistic depictions of inner-city life, which often touch on themes such as violence, drug use, and poverty.

The Harlem Spartans gained popularity in the UK drill scene with their tracks such as “Kennington Where It Started” and “Call Me A Spartan,” which were released in 2016. They continued to release successful tracks, including “Money & Beef,” “Gang Nem Knew We,” and “Spartan Shuffle.” Their music often features dark, hard-hitting beats and raw, aggressive lyrics that have earned them a loyal following among UK drill fans.

Despite their controversial subject matter, the Harlem Spartans have achieved significant success in their career. They have collaborated with other popular UK drill artists such as LD and Headie One, and their music videos have racked up millions of views on YouTube. In 2018, they were featured on the popular UK music platform, Mixtape Madness, and were interviewed by popular UK music media platforms such as GRM Daily and Link Up TV.

However, the group has also faced criticism for promoting violence and criminal activities through their music. In 2018, MizOrMac, a prominent member of the group, was sentenced to four years in prison for carrying a knife and affray, which sparked a debate about the role of drill music in promoting gang violence.

Overall, the Harlem Spartans have made a significant impact in the UK drill scene with their music and have achieved success in their career despite controversy and legal challenges. While their music may be controversial, it has also provided a platform for their voices and stories to be heard, highlighting the realities of life in inner-city London.

There were 15 rapping members of the gang and most UK drill fans consider them to be the best UK drill group They were the first UK drill group to really gain international attention in early 2017 With even Drake posting harlem spartans lyrics on his snapchat story But in 2020 Harlem Spartans barely released music. So what happened? Problems for Harlem began in 2017 when 2 of the group most popular members MizorMac and Blanco were arrested. Miz and Blanco were sentenced to 6 years and 3 and a half respectively for possession of a firearm.

Although in the UK you usually only serve half your sentence this was still devestating to Harlem as they lost a lot of momentum It didn’t get any better for Harlem in 2017 when TG Millian got 12 years for a stabbing, effectively ending his rap career. Harlem then took another terrible blow In July, 2018 when Splash Addicted (SA), a harlem member/rapper was stabbed to death. Later in 2018 Scratcha and gg got a combined 15 years for carrying a shotgun, ruining scratcha’s rapping career 2018 didn’t start well for Harlem either with 2 rappers Ondrills and SD both catching sentences But 2019 ended horribly for the group when Bis was stabbed to death.

News of Bis’ death devestated not just Harlem members but the whole UK drill scene 2020 didn’t get much better when Loski got arrested on a gun charge, although he hasn’t convicted yet all the legal issues slowed his career down And just recently MizOrMac has been recalled to jail, no one is 100% sure what for but he’ll have to beat that case Harlem’s legal issues have been made worse by UK police deleting many of their music videos It’s sad to see such talented rappers either dead or locked up with their talent wasted
